The Hmar people use this herb mainly for food item and its medicinal purposes like herbal treatment for toothache and others are relatively new to them.
Ansate and it's sister herb called 'ansapui' grow well in black soil and you can grow by sowing the tiny seeds. Just remember that these seeds need direct sunlight to germinate, so don't cover them with soil.
Not-boiled non fried 'ansate'. Just put it in a frying pan and heat it for about 3 minutes and it is ready for consumption.
Very tasty with non-veg curries like beef, mutton and pork.
