Mankhawng: A Hmar traditional trap to catch animals

Most of these traps are employed along the margins of the jhum fields in the hills to primarily to protect the crops and also for protein diet by the farmers. Hmarram.com had witnessed to a huge 'mankhawng' that trapped a black bear. The one sown in this photo is for small animals like squirrels, jungle mouse and others.
